The
founder of the one Family Foundation in Sierra Leone Prof. Dr. Robert Peter Holten has admonished
that it is a sin for people to take away from others, especially poor people
without nothing to give to them in return.
He said this is why his
"one Family Foundation" is forming alliances with
others concerned with development such as the Voice of Islam Radio and
scholars to work together as a team to promote good ideas, good behaviour and
development in this country.
Prof. Holten made the
remarks when be delivered a speech about his impressions and impact of the
Voice of Islam Radio near the Rotifunk Mosque at Lungi, Kaffu Bulom Chiefdom
past Sunday. The programme was organized by the Lungi Muslim Community in
Collaboration with the Sierra Leone Muslim Missionaries Union (SALEMMU) which
constitutes the Management of the Radio Station.
Prof. Holten who has been a
Mathematics Lecturer at Fourah Bay College for a protracted period added that
his foundation supports the contributions of Islamic scholars that match up to
peace and development.
He expressed the hopes that
the Islamic College
at Magburaka
will be rehabilitated so that it continues to contribute to the development of the nation, noting
that one family will in due course serve as a bridge
to
link Muslims in this country to their counterparts in his home (North America).
As part of his objectives,
Dr Holten said one family supports
the harmony and solidarity amongst everyone, adding that the one message to all
is that Christians and Muslims should have a common goal to promote peace and
development.
“You will hear more from me
over the Voice of Islam Radio in due course, as Allah is looking at everyone
concerning the way people move”.
According to Prof. Holten,
he has been privileged to meet with some of his old friends he made in 1963, at
Lungi and Makeni, especially the late Paramount Chief Komra Kanda III of Kafflu
Bullom. He noted that some of the friends he made in 1963 are now adults.
Prof. Holten narrated a
dream he had in Makeni of the Voice of Islam Radio and Poverty. He said the dream he had is that one family
and the Voice of Islam Radio have common values of love for family life which
they should cultivate with a view to encourage family life and eradicate
poverty in the country.
He maintained on a humorous note that "I am
sick and the medicine for it is not in this country. That sickness is poverty
which is every where in Makeni and in the country", while stressing that
the Voice of Islam Radio is equally helping to cure that sickness.
